Elderly woman drugged & robbed in Govindpura

BHOPAL: Two accused including a woman entered a 53-year-old woman's house in Govindpura and allegedly robbed her after drugging her. She then called her acquaintance Sherly and approached Govindpura police.CSP Govindpura Amit Kumar said that the accused possibly had information about Anamma. They knew that Anamma and Sherly were friends otherwise Anamma wouldn't have opened the door, CSP Kumar said. Anamma somehow managed to get the door opened after seeking help from balcony. The incident has once again raises concerns over the safety of senior citizens in the city especially elderly women.According to police, the victim Anamma Abraham, a resident of E-Sector Barkheda, is a clerk in BHEL society.

The accused entered the house using the name of a colleague of the victim. The incident has once again raises concerns over the safety of senior citizens in the city especially elderly women.According to police, the victim Anamma Abraham, a resident of E-Sector Barkheda, is a clerk in BHEL society. She returned home from duty around six on Monday evening and was having tea when the incident took place.Suddenly there was a knock on the door, and when Anamma asked who it the accused replied using the name Sherly - a woman who worked with the victim and resided in her neighbourhood till last month. Anamma then opened the door but was shocked to find that two masked persons were standing on the door.The accused pushed her inside and closed the door. They then smothered her with a handkerchief after which Anamma fell unconscious. She later regained consciousness around 10pm and found that the house was ransacked with her gold chain, gold earrings, Rs1000 cash, some documents and mobile phone all missing. The accused had fled after locking the door from outside. Anamma somehow managed to get the door opened after seeking help from balcony. She narrated the incident to neighbours. She then called her acquaintance Sherly and approached Govindpura police.CSP Govindpura Amit Kumar said that the accused possibly had information about Anamma. They knew that Anamma and Sherly were friends otherwise Anamma wouldn't have opened the door, CSP Kumar said. He added that a case has been registered and investigations were on.
