CM hails Centre on Commerce and Trade Ordinance 2020

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that the approval given by the Union Government to the Farming Produce Commerce and Trade (Promotion and Facilitation) Ordinance 2020 will now facilitate farmers to conduct obstacle free trade. E-platform is also being prepared for selling farmers’ produce, he added. The Farming Produce Commerce and Trade (Promotion and Facilitation) Ordinance 2020 has been approved by the Union Cabinet. There are several kinds of prohibitions on farmers for selling produce outside the market of notified Agriculture Produce Marketing Committee. The ordinance will also facilitate free trade of agricultural produce both within and outside the State, which are notified under the Agriculture Produce Marketing Committee (APMC).

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that the approval given by the Union Government to the Farming Produce Commerce and Trade (Promotion and Facilitation) Ordinance 2020 will now facilitate farmers to conduct obstacle free trade. This will help in eradicating all the current obstacles faced by the farmers in selling their agriculture produce and facilitate them to earn good profit. Chouhan expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister and Union Minister for Agriculture for this decision. He said that till now farmers are able to sell their produce only to the licensee traders of mandi. But now they will have many options to sell their crop. They can now sell their crop at better price from their farms, homes and outside the state too. E-platform is also being prepared for selling farmers’ produce, he added. The Farming Produce Commerce and Trade (Promotion and Facilitation) Ordinance 2020 has been approved by the Union Cabinet. Farmers of the country face lot of hardships in selling their produce because of the regulatory prohibitions. There are several kinds of prohibitions on farmers for selling produce outside the market of notified Agriculture Produce Marketing Committee. Farmers are bound to sell their produce to the traders with Government licence. Apart from this, there are many hindrances in the way of conducting trade from one State to another.The implementation of the ordinance will pave a way for creating a comfortable and free atmosphere for the farmers, who will have freedom to sell or purchase agricultural produce as per their convenience. The ordinance will also facilitate free trade of agricultural produce both within and outside the State, which are notified under the Agriculture Produce Marketing Committee (APMC). This will facilitate farmers with more options. The market cost will come down and farmers will be able to get better price for their produce. In addition, farmers of the excess production areas will also be able to get better price for their produce and on the other consumers of less production areas will not have to pay excess amount for the produce. The ordinance also has a provision for preparing an E-Platform to ensure smooth trade of agricultural produce.
