Wishing citizens on World Environment Day, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, in his message, said that we should make efforts to fulfil our obligation to conserve natural heritage and biodiversity. Every person must plant at least one tree in a year. If more saplings are planted, it will be a favour done to the humanity and nature. Biological diversity is the main theme of this year’s World Environment Day. Chouhan has said that Madhya Pradesh is an extremely rich State in terms of biodiversity. Madhya Pradesh has the flow of the lifeline Maa Narmada along the Satpura, Vindhyachal and Maikal mountain ranges. Along with this, rivers like Kshipra, Chambal, Betwa and Tapti that are our heritage, enrich the state’s water resources. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that at the present time the entire humanity is going through a difficult phase. In view of this, it is relevant to make biodiversity the main theme of Environment Day. The Government of Madhya Pradesh is determined to protect the environment and conserve biodiversity. The Chief Minister said that the studies conducted at the international level and its experience shows that if we do not respect the diversity of living beings, then indirectly we will end the basis of the existence of life on earth. Chouhan said that the Corona virus-borne pandemic has posed a major challenge to the world. While this is a challenge on the one hand, it is also an opportunity for us to ponder upon contemporary environmental problems, challenges related to conservation of biodiversity, various factors of pollution and man-wildlife conflicts, climate change and sustainable development. These important topics also have a mutually inherent relation. We have to understand all these deeply and move towards a holistic solution.
