Online Saila, karma dance performances get applause

Under the initiative, Karma dance, Saila dance were performed on Wednesday. Event began with the performance with ‘Saila dance’ of the Rajwar tribe. Saila dance is practiced to please Adidev. Next was the Karma dance. Karma dance also known as Naach is a traditional dance of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.

The Department of Culture Madhya Pradesh, is entertaining the art lovers during the social distancing too. The initiative of presenting cultural performances of the State online is grabbing applauses from the art lovers. Under the initiative, Karma dance, Saila dance were performed on Wednesday. The initiative was started on YouTube Channel of Department of Culture. Event began with the performance with ‘Saila dance’ of the Rajwar tribe. Saila dance is performed during the moonlight nights of autumn. It was named Saila due to the poles of about a quarter of a hand. Saila dance is practiced to please Adidev. It is said that Adi Dev Badhesur went to Amarkantak unhappy with the queen of Surguja, this dance was practiced by cutting the strings there. It was a solo performance though, but it captivated the audience with their dancing skills as likes hit the channel. Next was the Karma dance. Karma dance also known as Naach is a traditional dance of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. It is annually performed during the karma festival. Karma is a famous autumnal festival, it starts from the 11th day of the bright fortnight of the month of Bhadrab. Besides, performances from Sagar, Katni, Hoshangabad and other districts were presented. The performances included folk dance forms, tabla recital, flute recital and devotional singing. It is to be noted that in view of the worldwide crisis of coronavirus, a creative initiative is taken by the Culture Department Madhya Pradesh Government by connecting the artists of the country and State, which has received an encouraging response. All the acts are being uploaded on the official YouTube channel of Department of Culture.
