The duo, who are exemplers of women empowerment, flute sisters Debopriya and Suchismita Chhatterjee talked about thier life and struggles. Known critic Sunil Mishr talked with the duo on Thursday. Marking the 106th episode of Baaton Baaton Mein featured the female flutists.Interestingly, they are the only performing women flutists and always mesmerize the crowd whenever they give a performance and has recorded various albums as well. The two sisters Debopriya and Suchismita are the disciple of flute maestro Pt. Hariprasad Chaurasiya. Popularly known as Flute Sisters, Debopriya and Suchismita hail from Mumbai and have mastered the skill of playing the wooden flute from Guru Hariprasad Chourasia. Born into a well-known family of musicians in Allahabad, the Chatterjee sisters were prompted to learn flute by their parents Robin and Krishna Chatterjee, who were classical Hindustani vocalists. Robin, whose work led the family to live in Afghanistan for a time, suggested to his daughters that they become flautists, to fulfill a dream he had never been able to live up to. After returning to India, the sisters began their flute training under the tutelage of Pandit Bholanath Prasanna. In their teenage years, they began studying with flautist guru Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia. Baaton Baaton Mein a talk series is being held everyday on Instagram. Hosted by renowned art critic Sunil Mishr, the series is being held for the art lovers.
