Vishnu Shridhar Award conferred on archaeologist Prof Vidula Jaiswal

Culture Minister Usha Thakur, today, awarded national and internationally acclaimed archaeologist Prof Vidula Jaiswal with the Vishnu Shridhar Wakankar National Award 2015-16 through video conferencing in Varanasi. An amount of Rs 2 lakh cash and a citation was given to Prof Jaiswal at her residence in Varanasi. Prof Vidula Jaiswal said that she is grateful to Madhya Pradesh government for giving distinct identity to archaeology. Wakankar used to engage in work without waiting for any facility, which is an example for the officers of today. Born in the year 1947 in Varanasi, Prof. Vidula Jaiswal’s grandfather, Kashi Prasad Jaiswal, was also a well-known archaeologist and historian.
