National webinar held on controlling Covid-related stigma, discrimination

UNICEF Madhya Pradesh office and PRSI joins hand to organise a national webinar on controlling Covid related stigma and discrimination that was participated by 25 chapters of PRSI spread across 17 states. Total 59 public relation professionals across India that includes PR professionals from corporate sector, public sector units, state and national government, media professionals and university students and professors from Sagar University, LNCT, Rabindra Nath Tagore University and Makahanlal Chaturvedi national university of Journalism participated in the national webinar. Sidharth Shrestha, Chief Communication for Development welcomed the participant and gave key note address. Pushpendra Pal Singh, President of PRSI chapter and chief Editor, Rojgar and Nirman weekly magazine focused on need of ethical journalism, more so in backdrop of increased COVID-19 cases and also increased number of stigma and discrimination cases. The webinar was anchored by Sanjay Singh, C4D specialist from UNICEF Bhopal office and he summarized the key action points.

Sidharth said I see great opportunity of partnership with PRSI that has national presence as well as spread across different states in India on issues of a) curbing stigma and discrimination b) documentation of national and state initiatives on curbing stigma and discrimination c) orientation of PR professionals He stressed upon the fact of managing misinformation and saw it as a larger umbrella issue that encompasses issues of stigma and discrimination The special guest of the webinar was Dajeet Pathak, national president of PRSI said PRSI has not only national presence but footprints in 75 nations across the world and have ked internal global conferences on social issues He also added that I am excited to explore partnership opportunities with UNICEF on issues of child care, women empowerment and COVID related work, especially curbing stigma and discrimination. He also spoke about several initiatives of PRSI, highlighting the most recent campaign titled Vijay Bharat Abhiyaan that was launched by HRD minister, GoI that is about positive mood building exercise.
