Bhopal RMNH organizes online prog on 23rd anniversary

Regional Museum of Natural History, Bhopal (A Regional Centre of National Museum of Natural History, New Delhi) organized Online Programme on the occasion of 23rd anniversary of museum on Tuesday. During the programme, Pankaj Shrivastava, IFS, Director, Indian Institute of Forest Management, Bhopal delivered an online Lecture on “Management of Forests for Urban Water Purification”. Similarly Chief Guest also inaugurated the Online Exhibition on “Bats of M.P. Alok Kumar also released a Report on “Bhoj Wetland Winter Bird Count 2019-20” which was jointly organized by Regional Museum of Natural History, Bhopal; Bhopal Birds, Bhopal and VNS Saviours. During the online speech, Director, National Museum of Natural History, New Delhi Naaz Rizvi thanked the chief guest and guest of honour.

Alok Kumar, IFS, Principal Chief Conservator of Forest (Wildlife) & Chief Wildlife Warden, Madhya Pradesh Forest Department, Bhopal was the Chief Guest and Pankaj Shrivastava, IFS, Director, Indian Institute of Forest Management, Bhopal was the Guest of Honour of the programme. Manoj Kumar Sharma, Scientist-in-charge of the museum delivered welcome address. During the programme, Pankaj Shrivastava, IFS, Director, Indian Institute of Forest Management, Bhopal delivered an online Lecture on “Management of Forests for Urban Water Purification”. He detailed about the role of forests for urban water purification. He informed that the quantity of water can be increased by increasing in cover forest. Shrivastava detailed about the role of forest in water cycle. He also informed about the smart water management in any city. Chief Guest Alok Kumar released popular publications of the museum on “The Great Indian One Horned Rhinoceros” and “Swamp Deers of India”. Similarly Chief Guest also inaugurated the Online Exhibition on “Bats of M.P. and Chhatisgarh” and released “Documentary Film on RMNH, Bhopal”. Alok Kumar also released a Report on “Bhoj Wetland Winter Bird Count 2019-20” which was jointly organized by Regional Museum of Natural History, Bhopal; Bhopal Birds, Bhopal and VNS Saviours. During his speech, Alok Kumar emphasized the necessity of conservation for water bodies and catchment areas of river. He also appreciated the museum for the efforts made towards environment conservation activities. During the online speech, Director, National Museum of Natural History, New Delhi Naaz Rizvi thanked the chief guest and guest of honour. She mentioned that museum is organizing many online awareness programme during this Covid-19 pandemic. Sangeeta Rajgir, Shri Mohd. Khalique and Vipin Dhole from VNS Group of Institutions were present during the programme. this programme was joined by 89 participants from the corners of India. The programme was concluded with vote of thanks proposed by Manik Lal Gupta, Scientist-B of the museum.
