By-polls for 28 seats in MP to be held on Nov 3; results on Nov 10

After a prolonged wait the Election Commission of India (ECI) on Tuesday announced the dates of by-polls in various States. The by-elections for filling up 28 seats will take place on Nov 3 while the results will be announced on November 10. The polling for 28 by-polls takes place on Nov 3 in Madhya Pradesh while the results will be announced on Nov 10. Things look tough for opposition Congress party with 88 MLAs presently as it requires all the 28 wins to reach to the 116 majority mark. The Congress party is also highlighting farm loan waiver achieved in 15 months adding that remaining phases of the scheme could not be undertaken as the party lost power.

Besides, BJP and Congress party which are pitted in a tough battle in the central Indian State, the bypolls are also crucial for BJP Rajya Sabha MP Jyotiraditya Scindia who has a tough task of making his 16 supporters victorious in Gwalior-Chambal region and outcomes of these could decide the future status of Gwalior family scion in the BJP. The polling for 28 by-polls takes place on Nov 3 in Madhya Pradesh while the results will be announced on Nov 10. October 16 is the last date of filing nominations. Marwahi is the lone seat which goes to by-poll in Chhattisgarh. Going by the number game, the ruling BJP which came to power after Kamal Nath government lost majority in March this year, sits comfortable with 107 seats in assembly and requires only nine more to cross the magic mark of 116, required for majority in MP assembly. Things look tough for opposition Congress party with 88 MLAs presently as it requires all the 28 wins to reach to the 116 majority mark. The grand old party however has multiple issues ahead of the by-polls as it is attacking Scindia and company over betrayal and is also garnering sympathy accusing the BJP of toppling 15-months government. The Congress party is also highlighting farm loan waiver achieved in 15 months adding that remaining phases of the scheme could not be undertaken as the party lost power.
