Staff Reporter :The corona nodal officer and medical specialist of JP Hospital Dr Yogendra Shrivastava submitted his resignation alleging misbehaviour by Congress leaders after a patient died here on Saturday. A video footage of the incident went viral over social media in which Congress MLA P C Sharma and former corporator Yogendra Singh Guddu are seen talking to the doctor. Dr Shrivastava is trying to pacify the situation to the MLA but the ex-corporator is seen continuously shouting over the doctor. “Although the patient's corona reports was negative but further tests revealed that one-third of his lungs were damaged” Dr Shrivastava said.

The family members of the patient Takht Singh Shakya (40) have claimed alleged negligence in treatment by the doctors. A video footage of the incident went viral over social media in which Congress MLA P C Sharma and former corporator Yogendra Singh Guddu are seen talking to the doctor. Dr Shrivastava is trying to pacify the situation to the MLA but the ex-corporator is seen continuously shouting over the doctor. Dr Yogendra Shrivastava told The Hitavada that a patient was brought to hospital on Saturday at 12:35 pm in a very serious condition and his oxygen level was 30 per cent at that time. “Although the patients corona reports was negative but further tests revealed that one-third of his lungs were damaged” Dr Shrivastava said. He further added that he made the situation of patient clear before the family and told them that the patient did not have much time left and after the patient died after a couple of hours at around 2:30 pm. The doctor said that he was mentally stressed after the incident and was in no condition to give his services furthermore. Former minister and Congress MLA PC Sharma said “I tried calling the doctor to know if the hospital was referring the patient but he ignored my calls.” “All we wanted to know was the updated situation of the patient but as communication was not established we reached the hospital to take stock of the situation” Sharma added. Civil Surgeon of J P Hospital Dr Rakesh Shrivastava said that the patient was brought to the hospital in very serious condition and that it was unfortunate that he died during the treatment. “The power of accepting Dr Shrivastavas resignation does not lie with me” the civil surgeon said.
