State BJP issues notice to Ex-Min, suspends son

Congress turncoat Rahul Lodhi was defeated by Congress candidate Ajay Tandon by 17,097 votes in the bypoll help amid covid19 pandemic. The results were declared on May 3 and the party candidate had raised voice against Malaiya for his defrat. Stung by defeat, Lodhi soon after the loss, had openly blamed former minister Jayant Malaiya and his son Siddharth for his defeat urging party to take action against them. However, Jayant Malaiya later had rejected his allegations saying public anguish led to his defeat. The BJP had lost the Damoh bypoll but the district collector was punished, MP Congress said in a tweet.

Four days after tasting defeat in the Damoh assembly bypoll from the Congress party, Madhya Pradesh unit of BJP served a notice to former minister Jayant Malaiya and suspended his son Siddharth and five others from the primary membership of the party on Friday, party media co-ordinator Lokendra Parashar said in a statement. However, Jayant Malaiya later had rejected his allegations saying public anguish led to his defeat. “Five mandal heads and district training cell head Siddharth Malaiya has been suspended from primary membership of the party over anti-party activities in Damoh and former MLA Jayant Malaiya has been served show cause notice on similar reason by the state head Vishnu Datt Sharma,” BJP state media co-ordinator Lokendra Parashar said in a statement. The leaders in question have been asked by the party for furnishing their replies in next ten days. Lodhi had left Congress last year ahead of bypolls. Interestingly the state government on Friday also has removed Damoh collector Tarun Rathi and posted him as Deputy Secretary in Mantralaya in a minor bureaucratic reshuffle. The BJP had lost the Damoh bypoll but the district collector was punished, MP Congress said in a tweet.
