Dhrupad singing, Kathak dance performed

Ustad Alauddin Khan Sangeet and Kala Akademi broadcasted ‘Dhrupad’ singing and Kathak under Gamak series on Wednesday. Kamlesh Tiwari and group, Bhopal performed Dhrupad and 'Kathak dance' was performed by Neha Jain and group, Jabalpur. The presentation started with 'Dhrupad Gayan' by Kamlesh Tiwari in which Kamlesh added alap in Raag Bhoop, followed by Bandish in Shool Taal. Thereafter, he received deep education of Dhupad singing for eight years under Guru Shishya Parampara from famous Dhupad singer Shri Umakant Ramakant Gundecha (Gundecha Brothers) of Dagar Gharana. During his studies, he participated in almost all the important musical meetings of the country with Guru Gundecha Bandhu and performed singing withGuru ji.

Kamlesh Tiwari, who was conferred with the title of Surmani in the year 2006 by Bhartiya Sur Singar Sansad, Mumbai, had a keen interest in music since childhood. He received the title of "Sangeet Praveen" from Prayag Sangeet Samiti, Allahabad (U.P). Thereafter, he received deep education of Dhupad singing for eight years under Guru Shishya Parampara from famous Dhupad singer Shri Umakant Ramakant Gundecha (Gundecha Brothers) of Dagar Gharana. During his studies, he participated in almost all the important musical meetings of the country with Guru Gundecha Bandhu and performed singing with Guru ji. Shri Kamlesh has received many scholarships at national and international level. The second presentation was 'Kathak dance' by Neha Jain, in which - firstly, in the Shiva-Parvati Vandana composed by Bindadin Maharaj, the ocean churning story was presented in the middle through Gaat, followed by the traditional Kathak in the three talas of lifting, chic, inflow. The presentation was stopped by performing expressions on Tode, Paran, Tihai, Poetry and Thumri. In the presentation, the lyrics of the song were by Sarmistha. The dancers were accompanied on tabla by Lokesh Malviya, harmonium by Ramesh Puri Goswami and sarangi vocalist Santosh Mishra.
