Showers in Bhopal keep temp in check; Alert for heavy rain

Bhopal: Showers were witnessed in parts of the state, including Bhopal, which kept the day temperature close to the normal mark on Thursday. Due to development of multiple systems, a warning for heavy showers also existed in a few places of the state.Officials of the meteorological department, Bhopal circle said that there was a low pressure area over south-east Jharkhand with associated cyclonic circulation. A trough was passing over Uttar Pradesh while the monsoon trough line was moving over Tikamgarh and Sidhi in the state. The development of these systems would lead to showers in parts of Madhya Pradesh.Day temperature in Bhopal on Thursday was recorded at 30.2 degrees celsius, one degree less than the normal mark, while night temperature in the city was 24.7 degrees celsius, three degrees more than normal. On Monday, Bhopal was expected to have a cloudy sky with light rain, with temperatures of 26 degrees and 22 degrees Celsius during the day and night, respectively. Waterlogging and traffic congestion were reported in various parts of the city. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted light to moderate rain and gusty winds in Delhi and surrounding areas. The IMD also forecasted generally cloudy skies with light rain for Sunday. Commuters complained about heavy traffic, comparing it to Bangalores traffic. Delhis Air Quality Index (AQI) stood at 87, categorized as "good".Showers are likely today too, but no major change in temperature: IMDGurgaon experienced light rain, keeping the temperature in check, and more showers are expected in the next 24 hours. The maximum temperature was 32.1 degrees Celsius, and the minimum temperature rose slightly to 27.5 degrees Celsius. The monsoon trough lies south of its normal position, and a cyclonic circulation over Punjab, along with an active western disturbance over the western Himalayan region, is causing rainfall. The city has received 434mm of rainfall so far this monsoon, which is considered normal. The air quality index rose to 143, categorized as "moderate.
