2 booked for duping retd officer of ₹50L

Bhopal: Kamla Nagar police acting on a complaint filed by a retired officer registered a case on charges of cheating and breach of trust against two businessmen for allegedly duping the official of Rs 50 lakh on the pretext of making him a partner in their new venture. Police said that the complainant Anil Kumar, 64, a resident of Riviera Town, is retired from NABARD. He received a fund of Rs 80 lakh after his retirement and intended to invest it in a business. Anil was acquainted with Ashish Kumar Soni and Paresh Kumar Soni, who ran a business of valuable gems. They told him that they wanted to open their new showroom on Hoshangabad Road for which they needed Rs 50 lakh., the police said. They offered Anil that if he invests Rs 50 lakh in their new venture, they will pay him an interest of Rs 80000 per month and make him a partner in their business. Anil agreed and gave them Rs 50 lakh in 2019. After receiving the money, the accused neither made him a partner nor refunded his money. Fed up, Anil had filed a private complaint before the court. He was booked earlier this year for allegedly attempting to bribe and extort the wife of the deputy Chief Minister. Jaisinghanis daughter was also arrested in connection with the case and was granted bail in March. The court imposed certain conditions on Jaisinghanis bail, including attending court daily and surrendering his passport.
