BHOPAL: As the countdown for the formation of the next government in Madhya Pradesh began on Saturday, with counting of votes for the 230 Assembly constituencies to begin at 8am on Sunday, both BJP and Congress exuded confidence and asserted they were winning the elections.While the Congress put up a huge poster outside its state headquarters here on Saturday that said: "Janata ka dene saath, phir a rahe hain Kamal Nath" (Kamal Nath is returning yet again to work for the people), the BJP put up tents and speakers and mics for its leaders at the state party office.CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan exuded confidence and said BJP is going to get a thumping majority.Taking to X, former CM Kamal Nath told Congress workers: "This is a time of enthusiasm and confidence. I will be present in the office of the Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee and keep a close watch on the vote counting process. I will be in constant touch with all of you. There will be a new dawn in Madhya Pradesh on December 3. Have faith that victory will choose Congress." We are very confident that people have elected us. Exit polls have also been in our favour. Our leader Kamal Nath is the most credible CM face. And yes, we have begun our celebrations, said MPCC media department vicepresident Abbas Hafeez, who put up the poster.We will have a long chat on Sunday. There is no need to say anything now. I have nothing to do with what exit polls predict. I have full trust in the voters of Madhya Pradesh, Kamal Nath told reporters on Saturday.The state Congress has set-up a control room where senior leaders Kamal Nath, Digvijaya Singh, Randeep Surjewala and Rajya Sabha MP and eminent lawyer Vivek Tankha would be present. A legal team would monitor and resolve problems and complaints of candidates and party workers who would be present at counting centres.The mood is upbeat in the BJP camp too. Chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said, BJP is going to form the government with an overwhelming majority. The love for Narendra Modi and the trust people have on him is unparalleled. People have faith in the magic of the welfare schemes of the Centre and state government. The development that has taken place in Madhya Pradesh has been unprecedented. This is the reason for peoples trust in the government. Ladli Bahnas have given us their blessings. On Sunday morning, everything will be clear like the suns rays, said Chouhan.The BJP has readied its war-room where top leaders of the party would monitor the counting of votes. Union minister for railways Ashwini Vaishaw, who is co-incharge of the Assembly election for the BJP in the state, reached Bhopal on Saturday. Union minister for civil aviation Jyotiraditya Scindia is also in the state capital. Scindia, along with Union agriculture minister Narendra Singh Tomar, state BJP chief VD Sharma and state BJP organizational general secretary Hitananda Sharma, would also be in the war room.This time, Congress has declared Kamal Nath as its chief ministerial face and desires a full majority government that will last its term of five years. BJP has been in power for more than 18 years but for the first time does not have a declared chief ministerial candidate.Union home minister Amit Shah said that Shivraj Singh Chouhan is the present chief minister but who will be next, is to be decided by the party after the election results.
