Police seizes unused, abandoned vehicles from public places

The traffic police has started the process of confiscating dilapidated abandoned vehicles parked in public places of the city from Saturday. On Saturday, lifting of vehicles with the help of cranes started from the Kohefiza area of the old city. These vehicles will be confiscated and dumped in the underground parking at TT Nagar Dussehra ground. In the state capital, traffic is hampered due to abandoned vehicles parked at public places. Besides, there they remains a possibility of accidents. To remove these vehicles, the traffic police have marked places across the city and started action from the Kohefiza area from Saturday. Municipal Corporation Act and Motor Vehicle Act action is being taken against these vehicles. On Saturday, a joint team of Traffic Police, Municipal Corporation and District Administration took action and lifted 21 four-wheelers parked illegally on Kohefiza main road under the GAD over bridge and near the old RTO office with the help of a crane. During this period, challan was also issued to some vehicles on the spot under the Motor Vehicle Act. During the action, Municipal Corporation Encroachment Squad In-charge Zone-3 Mahesh Gaur, Ed. DCP Traffic Basant Kaul . were present. DCP Traffic Padma Vilochan Shukla said that those vehicles whose registration period has expired should be auctioned by the Municipal Corporation. This campaign will continue continuously. The police had been continuously making announcements for the last 10 days to remove these vehicles. It is noteworthy that due to these  dilapidated abandoned vehicles being parked on the road, there is a possibility of traffic jam and accident. People had also complained many times regarding this matter. But now the administration and police have shown strictness.
