Bhopal: Five members of a family, all Pak nationals, were booked for flouting visa norms and living unlawfully in Bhopal. The accused came from Pakistan on a long-term visa to Indore, police said. They jumped visa conditions, shifted to Bhopal and did not return to country of their origin. The family opened a mobile shop on Hamidia Road. Police said they received an information from the police headquarters and after verifying charges, a case was registered at Shahjehnabad police station on Friday. Accused are yet to be nabbed.Accused came on Long Term Visas (LTVs) to Indore, but they allegedly opened a shop on Hamidia Road in Bhopal and started residing here. A case was registered at Shahjehnabad police station. The accused, Giand Wadhwani, Shami and their sons Sagar, Sandeep and Kunal, came to Indore on LTV till January 2017. Thereafter, they settled in Bhopal.A complaint was received in this regard a few months ago and after verifying it, a case was registered on directives of senior officials, police said, adding their current location is unclear and efforts would be made to arrest them as investigation proceeds.Bhopal has a significant number of Pakistani migrants and Bairagarh, now known as Sant Hirdaram Nagar, and Shahjehnabad area in the city, is an old settlement of Sindhi migrants.Last year, a covert verification drive to check credentials of applications submitted by Pakistani Hindu migrants for LTVs in Bhopal came as a shocker for state's intelligence officers. Most of Pakistani migrants enrolled with Election Commission (EC) have their residential addresses in Bairagarh and Shahjehanabad.District special branch forwarded a list of nine migrants from Pakistan to city police to look into procedure adopted by migrants to procure voter IDs and role of administrative authorities, who overlook mandatory screening procedures. It is unclear whether the ones booked were enrolled with the EC. The matter remains under investigation and some more people residing in city unlawfully could be booked as investigation proceeds, police said.
