Usually that would be the end of the story — a bewildered driver being bundled away by cops. "Amritash's father Shreeram Tiwari said, "It was a mistake to overtake the convoy but he didn't realise it was the CM's cavalcade. Tiwari was driving with the music on loud volume and unintentionally overtook the cavalcade of the chief minister. And he didn't get out of car as he became nervous after being surrounded by police. But this wasn't an ordinary morning and it was still too early to step off the panic pedal.

Bhopal: It was around 930 in the morning and the cavalcade of chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan was moving at a steady pace on VIP Road. Suddenly, just as the convoy reached Khanugaon Chauraha, a grey car sped up from behind and overtook it, triggering alarm in the security detail. The hooters on police vehicles went on and cops started screaming at the driver to move aside, but the grey coloured Tata Zest kept moving right ahead of the cavalcade for half a kilometre before police vehicles intercepted it and forced it to the roadside. Usually that would be the end of the story — a bewildered driver being bundled away by cops. But this wasn't an ordinary morning and it was still too early to step off the panic pedal. For, the man in the car refused to get out despite repeated orders of the police. Not willing to take chances, the cops called a crane and towed it away to Kohefiza police station, with the driver still inside. The hour-long standoff ended when the driver finally got out of the car on reaching the police station. Police identified him as 25-year-old engineer Amritash Tiwari, a resident of Professor Colony, who has worked in California for two years. "We know it's illegal to tow a vehicle with someone inside, but since we weren't sure about the intentions of the driver, we had to do it," said an officer, adding: "It was a bizarre situation."At the police station everyone had two questions: why he ignored police sirens and why he wouldn't get out of the car. Tiwari had very simple answers: first, he had the music on too loud, and second, he was afraid that the burly cops would beat him up.Anil Bajpayee, station house officer of Kohefiza, said, "After the car and the driver were brought to the police station it was revealed that it was an unintentional mistake. Tiwari was driving with the music on loud volume and unintentionally overtook the cavalcade of the chief minister. He continued for 500m and then parked his vehicle to a side on hearing the police hooters." CM Chouhan is entitled to Z-category security but is dead against use of hooters or lalbatti, which is perhaps why Tiwari failed to realise the intrusion.ASP Zone-3 Rajesh Bhadauriya said, "There was no motive behind his overtaking the convoy. He did it unintentionally. However, after stopping the vehicle he didn't step out. He later told us that when six-seven police officials surrounded his car, he was afraid of being beaten up. That's why he didn't get out of the vehicle."Amritash's father Shreeram Tiwari said, "It was a mistake to overtake the convoy but he didn't realise it was the CM's cavalcade. This can happen with anybody. It was totally unintentional. And he didn't get out of car as he became nervous after being surrounded by police."Police have impounded the car and booked Tiwari under IPC Section 283. He was released on bail.
