BHOPAL/AGRA: A special train hired by farmers veered off course and went on the wrong track for 160km on Wednesday morning. The passengers were bewildered when they woke up to find themselves in the Chambal ravines in MP's Morena, instead of the fields of Kolhapur in Maharashtra.The farmers created a ruckus at the station after they learnt that the train had travelled three hours in the wrong direction. It's a miracle that the train didn't run into another one on the same track.The farmers had paid Rs 35 lakh to the Indian Railways to hire a train — Swabhimani Express — from Delhi to Kolhapur, said sources. They had gone to New Delhi on November 20 to participate in the 'Kisan Mukti Sansad' protests held at Parliament Street to seek one-time total farm debt waiver.There were 1,494 farmers in the train, including 200 women. The train left Delhi at 10pm and reached Mathura (UP) around 2am. Sometime after this, it ended up on the wrong track.Mohd Suleman, principal secretary, commerce, industries and employment department, science and technology has been given charge of PWD as well.
