Odisha collects total revenue worth Rs 36,729 crore in 2017-18 FY

BHUBANESWAR: The state’s overall tax collection from both tax and non-tax sources in 2017-18 fiscal year was estimated at Rs 36,729 crore, a growth of around 19 per cent as compared to the previous year.According to an official statement issued by the chief secretary’s office, the state generated Rs 28682 crore from own tax sector during 2017-18 while the collection from non-tax sector is pegged at around Rs 8047 crore.Major sources of own tax includes the professional tax, land revenue, stamp duty and registration fees, state excise, commercial taxes including GST share and motor vehicle taxes while revenue from mining royalty, industrial water rate, irrigation tax, interest and dividend from various sources and other departmental receipts comprise non-tax sector.Reviewing the revenue position here at the secretariat, chief secretary A P Padhi directed various departments to scale up the total revenue generation by 10 per cent in 2018-19 fiscal year over the collection achived in 2017-18.
