Odisha: Railways to run 184 special trains during Rath Yatra

Running of this train before Rath Yatra will help the devotees of Nayagarh to attend the Rath Yatra easily. The zone has arranged 26 trains for Bahuda Yatra on July 22 and 26 trains for Sunabesha ritual of the deities falls on next day of the Bahuda Yatra. This train will run daily except Sundays from both the directions. It will cover several Odisha-West Bengal border areas besides western and eastern part of the state,” said a senior railway officer.A total of 28 trains will run to and from Puri for Gundicha Yatra (first day of Ratha Yatra) on July 14. “In case we find crowds at any station, we will run special trains,” said a railway spokesperson.The ECoR will open five additional inquiry counters, 35 additional ticket counters, ‘May I Help You’ booths and additional ticket checking staff at Puri railway station to tackle the heavy rush of passengers.

BHUBANESWAR: The East Coast Railway (ECoR) has decided to run 184 special trains to Puri to avoid heavy rush of passengers during the nine-day-long Rath Yatra festival starting from July 14.ECoR will run these trains to Puri from Khurda, Bhubaneswar, Bhadrak, Cuttack , Paradip, Berhampur, Bhawanipatna, Keonjhar, Bangiriposi (Mayurbhanj), Palasa and Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh, Kharagpur, Shalimar (Kolkata) between July 14 and July 25.“We are also tying up with South Eastern Railway to start a special train from Rourkela via Keonjhar to Puri for Rath Yatra. It will cover several Odisha-West Bengal border areas besides western and eastern part of the state,” said a senior railway officer.A total of 28 trains will run to and from Puri for Gundicha Yatra (first day of Ratha Yatra) on July 14. The zone has arranged 26 trains for Bahuda Yatra on July 22 and 26 trains for Sunabesha ritual of the deities falls on next day of the Bahuda Yatra. Other trains will run between July 14 and July 22 and a day after the Sunabesha ritual.Railway sources said the zone will keep some extra coaches with engine ready to be worked out at short notice. “In case we find crowds at any station, we will run special trains,” said a railway spokesperson.The ECoR will open five additional inquiry counters, 35 additional ticket counters, ‘May I Help You’ booths and additional ticket checking staff at Puri railway station to tackle the heavy rush of passengers. This year, Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) will start a ticket counter for devotees at Bagala Dharmasala in Puri, said Braj Mohan Agarwal, divisional railway manager of Khurda Road.He said pilgrim complex constructed during Nabakalebara festival in 2015 will help the devotees to take rest at the station. It will accommodate around 5,000 pilgrims, he added.The railway zone will also open first aid booths, deploy ambulance along with railway doctors and paramedical staff, GRP and RPF control room, mela shed, area control room and other train operation related control rooms for safe journey of passengers.Additional RPF personnel and a dog squad will be deployed. Additional CCTVs will be installed in Puri station to keep eye on the movements of suspected elements, said a senior railway officer.The ECoR has decided to run a passenger special train between Khurda Road and Nayagarh Town with effect from Tuesday. This train will run daily except Sundays from both the directions. Running of this train before Rath Yatra will help the devotees of Nayagarh to attend the Rath Yatra easily.
