BHUBANESWAR: Death of a girl after wall collapse in Bhadrak district on Tuesday exposed how schools across Odisha have neglected safety guidelines issued by the state government.
All types of disaster preparedness at school level must be done as per the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) guidelines as circulated among the schools.
As per the Supreme Court mandate, safety of children in school must be given top priority,” Poonia added.
All schools must keep first aid box, fire extinguisher, safe drinking water at the school premises and the area must be kept clean to avoid any setback.
They should conduct hazard hunt activities to identify obvious risks like improper location of electricity panel, live wires if any, cracked walls and roofs, etc.“We have asked all block and cluster level officers to increase monitoring of safety issues in schools.
