Met forecasts rain over three days

The state's monsoon rain deficit improved to 7% after the showers on Thursday. Of them, Nabarangpur saw the highest 41% rainfall deficit. For Friday, the forecast said rain will occur at most places with chances of heavy rainfall in some coastal districts.Biswas said the low pressure formed last week also brought good rainfall. He did not rule out chances of the system intensifying further. The other major deficit districts include Balangir, Angul, Kalahandi, Nuapada, Sonepur and Sundargarh.

BHUBANESWAR: A fresh low pressure area was formed over the Bay of Bengal on Thursday triggering chances of rainfall at most places in the state in the next three days from Friday, according to a latest forecast from IMD.This system will bring more rainfall to coastal pockets initially and later cover other parts of the state, said director of regional IMD centre H R Biswas. He did not rule out chances of the system intensifying further. For Friday, the forecast said rain will occur at most places with chances of heavy rainfall in some coastal districts.Biswas said the low pressure formed last week also brought good rainfall. Of them, Nabarangpur saw the highest 41% rainfall deficit. The other major deficit districts include Balangir, Angul, Kalahandi, Nuapada, Sonepur and Sundargarh.
