AIIMS, IOCL refinery among Vajpayee’s big contributions to Odisha

BHUBANESWAR: As former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee remains critical on life support, people in Odisha fondly remember his contribution as PM for the state.Before leaving for Delhi to see the ailing former PM, chief minister Naveen Patnaik recalled his association with Vajpayee and said, “I served as a cabinet minister in his government for two years. To hear about his health is very distressing. The East Coast Railway was carved out as a separate railway zone with its headquarter in Bhubaneswar during Vajpayee’s prime ministership.Debendra Pradhan, who served as minister of state for surface transport in Vajpayee government, said Odisha has also immensely benefited from Vajpayee’s dream of Golden Quadrilateral road network, connecting Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata.
