Bandhavgarh tigress released into wild

BHUBANESWAR: Translocated female tiger brought from Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve in Madhya Pradesh on June 27 to the Satkosia Tiger Reserve (STR) in Angul district was released into the wild on Friday.The tigress had been housed in the specialized enclosure inside the STR since June 28. The forest department released the tigress at around 3.15pm on Friday after it found her to be in normal health condition and psychological status.The movement of the animal inside the tiger reserve is being monitored round the clock by the officials of the STR and researchers of the Wildlife Institute of India, along with expert veterinarians.During the release of the tigress, Sandeep Tripathi, PCCF wildlife and chief wildlife warden, Sudarsan Panda, additional PCCF and field director of the STR, K Ramesh, scientist of the Wildlife Institute of India, divisional forest officers of Satkosia and Angul and other government officials were present.The tigress has been observed in normal condition inside the forest area of STR, said a statement issued by the forest department.Recently, a male tiger brought from Kanha national park had been released into the wild in the STR.
