Railways to use third party feedback to better services

BHUBANESWAR: The railways will use independent third party, especially volunteers, to get feedback from passengers about railway services. It will engage volunteers from National Service Scheme , National Cadet Corps, the Bharat Scouts and Guides and college interns.The Railway Board recently issued a letter to zonal railways, including East Coast Railway (ECoR), to engage these volunteers. The zone will also give a feedback on the action taken or planned to be taken on the basis of the collected information.In ECoR, this system has already been implemented from Thursday. Additional general manager Rajeev Sharma is personally monitoring this exercise, which has started in Visakhapatnam , Puri and Bhubaneswar railway stations, said a senior railway officer.ECoR hopes that the third party feedback will be more acceptable to stakeholders.The railways has also planned an elaborate briefing module for its volunteers that will help them in taking feedbacks, said an officer. Engagement of the students will strengthen the passenger feedback system and railways can take steps according to the feedbacks, said a Board source.The board has asked the zonal railways to persuade the schools or colleges to spare the students for the work.“It is of paramount importance that suitable training is imparted to the young surveyors going to assess the services,” said the Board.An ECoR source said the feedback collected by the volunteers will be compiled.Feedbacks will be filled every Friday.
