Miffed, Congress leader accuses Narasingha of taking Naveen's side

Asked whether Sagaria's remarks exposed the infighting in the Congress as he is still in the party, Congress state president Niranjan Patnaik said he is not aware of the allegations. "I feel sorry to say that the leader of opposition did not discharge his duty properly in the assembly. "Despite being the leader of opposition, you did not think appropriate to raise in the assembly the sensational rape and suicide of Kunduli rape victim. I drew his attention to the plight of SC and ST people in the state and urged him to raise the issues in the assembly. But he never accorded due attention to the issues," Sagaria told media persons here on Sunday.Sagaria, who is still in the Congress despite his resignation as an MLA, also sent a letter to Mishra.

Bhubaneswar: Congress leader and former MLA Krishna Chandra Sagaria , who recently resigned as a member of the state assembly, on Sunday alleged that leader of opposition Narasingha Mishra has never shown interest in raising issues relating to the development of people belonging to scheduled castes and scheduled tribes in the state.Sagaria alleged that Mishra, a veteran Congress MLA, has often tried to protect chief minister Naveen Patnaik in the assembly because of his proximity to the BJD president."I feel sorry to say that the leader of opposition did not discharge his duty properly in the assembly. I drew his attention to the plight of SC and ST people in the state and urged him to raise the issues in the assembly. But he never accorded due attention to the issues," Sagaria told media persons here on Sunday.Sagaria, who is still in the Congress despite his resignation as an MLA, also sent a letter to Mishra. Your advice to our party's ST/SC MLAs is to prostrate before chief minister Naveen Patnaik in the assembly in May 2016 to draw his attention to the demands for more quota for SC and ST students in medical and engineering colleges was inappropriate," Sagaria wrote. He recently resigned as MLA over the government's alleged failure to provide justice to the Kunduli rape-suicide victim.Narasingha Mishra refused to speak to the media on the charges levelled against him by Sagaria.
