CM first to buy ticket of WC opening ceremony

BHUBANESWAR: Chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday purchased the first ticket of the opening ceremony of the Men's Hockey World Cup scheduled to be held at Kalinga Stadium here on November 27.Hockey India CEO Elena Norman met Naveen at the state secretariat and handed him the ticket, which cost him Rs 500, sources said.After receiving the ticket, Naveen tweeted, "Delighted to receive the first ticket of Odisha Hockey Men's World Cup 2018 opening ceremony from @TheHockeyIndia. Hope fans from all over the world are ready to catch the euphoria of #HWC2018 and explore Odisha. The date for online redemption of the tickets for this event will be announced soon.Hockey India said people could purchase tickets online only and they would not be available for sale over the counter.The World Cup will witness 16 top teams fight it out for the prestigious trophy at the iconic venue. Looking forward to welcome you all in #Bhubaneswar. "Apart from the inaugural ceremony at Kalinga Stadium, a World Cup Celebrations event will be held at Barabati Stadium in Cuttack on November 28.Hockey India announced that ticket sales for the inaugural ceremony at Kalinga Stadium and the World Cup Celebrations at Barabati Stadium will go live on Tuesday on www.ticketgenie.in.The online redemption of the tickets for the inaugural ceremony will start from the afternoon of November 22 at Gate 4 of Kalinga Stadium along with other places in the capital city.Ticket buyers can select redemption centres from multiple locations or counters in Cuttack while booking their tickets for the World Cup Celebrations event.
