The OSRTC has also decided to augment the size of its fleet to 1,000 buses in the next three years, official sources said. Official sources said each bus costs around Rs 55 lakh. As many as 23 buses will ply to Phulbani, Rourkela, Bhawanipatna, Bhanjanagar, Rajgangpur (via Sundargarh), Rajkhariar (via Balangir), Gorumahisani (via Karanjia) and Burla (via Sambalpur) in the first phase.“Rest of the districts will be covered shortly.

The transport department plans to run in phases 50 luxury buses between various district headquarters and major towns with comparatively less connectivity to the state capital.The luxury deluxe buses of state-owned Odisha State Road Transport Corporation (OSRTC) used for movement of players from hotels to stadium and to various tourist spots around the city during the recent Hockey World Cup. Official sources said each bus costs around Rs 55 lakh. Tickets for the Rajdhani Express can be booked online and though mobile app on a smartphone.The chief minister also flagged off four Volvo buses that will run from Bhubaneswar to Kolkata and Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh. At present, the OSRTC operates 429 buses in all the 30 districts and in 43 inter-state route covering Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, Jharkhand and Madhya Pradesh, official sources said.The state-owned corporation has the distinction of plying more buses in Left wing extremist-affected districts for the benefit of people, said the minister.Stating that OSRTC has taken up construction of five new bus stands at Jeypore in Koraput, Balangir, Angul, Bamara in Sambalpur and Odagaon in Nayagarh and renovated 25 bus stands, the minister said it has been decided that the transport department would develop 50 model bus stands at block level in various districts. The OSRTC has also decided to augment the size of its fleet to 1,000 buses in the next three years, official sources said.
