BHUBANESWAR/ DHENKANAL: Union minister for road transport and highways and shipping Nitin Gadkari on Wednesday criticized the state government for the delay in land acquisition, as well as forest and environment clearances, for infrastructure projects.“In Odisha, several projects such as the coastal highway and the second bridge over the Brahmani in Rourkela have been delayed because the state government is not giving land and forest and environment clearances,” Gadkari said after laying the foundation of three national highway projects totalling 132 km and worth Rs 2,345 crore, at Kamakhyanagar in Dhenkanal district on Wednesday.He urged the state to give the clearances quickly so that more projects could come up. “We can start construction of the coastal highway in the next four months if we get clearances from the state,” he said.Industries minister Anant Das dismissed Gadkari’s allegations and said, “It is not true that the state government is not giving clearances or blocking land acquisition.
