Bhubaneswar: Making alleged corruptions during the BJD government a major poll plank, the BJP on Monday launched a ‘Jan Adalat (people’s court)’ campaign where people were encouraged to highlight corruption at different levels of governance.BJP state vice-president Sameer Mohanty said on the inaugural day ‘Jan Adalats’ were organised in Berhampur, Puri and Kalahandi Lok Sabha seats. Similar adalats will be organised in all 21 Lok Sabha seats by February 17, he said.The BJP is placing a “dummy judge” to hear the grievances and administer pledges to people to remove the incumbent Naveen government and bring a corruption-free BJP government.The party’s anti-corruption campaign comes in the wake of Prime Minister Narendra Modi targeting chief minister Naveen Patnaik for the ongoing ‘PC culture’ (reference to the rampant system of government functionaries charging a percentage of commission) during the Khurda meet on December 24 last year.BJD spokesperson Samir Ranjan Dash said the BJP move would cut no ice with the people. “Prime Minister Narendra Modi needs to answer people on what promises he made in 2014 and what he did and the corruptions in his government. The BJD is in the process of fulfilling most of the promises it made in the 2014 manifesto and runs a very transparent government,” Dash said.The BJP’s ‘Jan Adalats’ will be interspersed with series of rallies by senior BJP leaders. Party president Amit Shah is scheduled to address a public meeting at Sambalpur on February 15.Union home minister Rajnath Singh will address a rally in Bhadrak on February 17. Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath is scheduled to address two public meetings in Khurda and Kalahandi districts on February 20.
