Odisha Home guard loses limbs after being run over by train

BHUBANESWAR: A home guard on Wednesday lost his legs after being run over by a train at Nilgiri railway station in Balasore district Chief minister Naveen Patnaik has announced Rs 1 lakh compensation and free treatment for this home guard. Passengers rescued him in critical condition and took him to the Balasore district headquarters hospital for treatment. The injured man identified as Natabar Nayak, who works under Soro police station, was traveling in a train from Soro to join duty for chief minister Naveen Patnaik’s programme in Balasore.The incident occurred when the speeding Duronto Express ran over him while he was crossing the railway track at the station.
