Girl sold in Rajasthan rescued

One Sukhbir Singh Jath, 37, of Solana was arrested. Police received information that the girl was in Chirawa following which a special team was formed. The woman along with a man forcibly married off the girl to Sukhbir Singh Jath and took cash of Rs 1.5 lakh from Sukhbir. Sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) Bhawani Sankar Udgata said, a special police team has been formed to nab the duo. Sambalpur: Police on Wednesday rescued a 22-year-old girl of Dhama police station area in Sambalpur district from Chirawa in Rajasthan’s Jhunjhunu district. She was missing for more than one-and-half months now. One Sukhbir Singh Jath, 37, of Solana was arrested. Police sources said the girl was kidnapped and sold to Sukhbir for Rs 1.5 lakh.Police sources said on January 18, father of the victim lodged a complaint with the town police station that his daughter had gone missing. Subsequently, police launched a probe into the incident. Police received information that the girl was in Chirawa following which a special team was formed. The team along with the girl’s parents went to Rajasthan and rescued the girl.Police said, during investigation, it came to light that the girl, who had gone to Bhubaneswar, was kidnapped by some persons from there. The kidnapper took the girl to Rajasthan and handed over her to one woman of Chhota Bulunda under Baggar police station in Jhunjhunu district. The woman along with a man forcibly married off the girl to Sukhbir Singh Jath and took cash of Rs 1.5 lakh from Sukhbir. The man and the woman are yet to be arrested. Sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) Bhawani Sankar Udgata said, a special police team has been formed to nab the duo.
