The site of the murder is about 15 kilometre from the border of Koraput district.Koraput SP Kanwar Vishal Singh said, “A decision to conduct regular follow-up meetings at the level of deputy superintendent of police and inspector in-charge of respective police stations for the identification of sensitive and hyper-sensitive areas has also been taken.” Koraput: With the general elections around the corner, an interstate coordination meeting of senior police officers of the Maoist-hit districts was held at the district police headquarters here on Thursday to ensure that no violence takes place during polls.Apart from the six SPs of the south-western range of the state, as many as nine SPs of the bordering districts of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Chhattisgarh, DIG of Visakhapatnam and DIG BSF attended the meeting which was chaired by the DIG (south-western range) Himansu Lal. “The current Maoist scenario in the region was assessed and discussions about the steps to be taken to prevent any untoward incident during the election period were held,” Lal said.Officials said the deployment and realignment of forces, including paramilitary ones, strengthening of the intelligence network and sharing of intelligence inputs between interstate police and better coordination between forces at the time of joint counter insurgency operations, among others, were discussed in the meeting.On September 23 last year, the Maoists had murdered Telugu Desam Party’s MLA Kidari Sarvewara Rao of Araku constituency and former legislator Siberi Soma near Livitiputtu village under Dumuriguda police limits of Andhra Pradesh.
