BHUBANESWAR: Both ruling BJD and opposition BJP on Tuesday moved the Chief Election Officer of the state and lodged complaint against each other regarding the 'intelligence report' on chief minister's constituency Hinjili that was making round in the social media on Monday.While BJD alleged it as a ‘fake’ and ‘fabricated’ report circulated by the BJP to sully the reputation of the ruling party and demanded legal action against the opposition BJP, the latter demanded enquiry by highest investigating agencies like the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) or National Investigation Agency (NIA).“BJD has done a heinous criminal offence of abetting forgery and fabrication of this letter containing malicious matter. They have subsequently used the forged and fabricated letter and tried to sway public opinion by trying to create confusion in vain with false information. Such an act by the leaders of a national party is highly deplorable and unprecedented in the elections of Odisha ,” said the memorandum submitted by BJD to the CEO.BJD also cited a similar incident of a fake letter being circulated during the Karnataka Assembly election last year having huge resemblance with the letter circulated in Odisha. “Like Odisha, in Karnataka also BJP is the only party which used the same campaign tool and is a habitual mischief monger,” the BJD memorandum said.The BJP that had showed the letter in a media conference on Monday and alleged that chief minister Naveen Patnaik has announced to fight elections from two constituencies of Hinjili and Bijepur because he is afraid of a defeat in Hinjili as mentioned in the ‘intel report’.“We demand an enquiry into the origin of the letter by the highest investigating authority so that the doubts will be cleared. It is quite obvious that once a confidential letter is circulated in social media the BJD and the state police will call it fake and will make all attempts to prove it. The BJD has acted as per the letter and the CM is going to stand from two constituencies,” said state vice president of BJP, Samir Mohanty.Meanwhile Odisha police registered a case in Kharvela NAgar police station in Bhubaneswar on the issue.
