Lok Sabha polls 2019: Naveen leads BJD's star campaigners' list in Odisha

BHUBANESWAR: Ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Saturday announced 40 star campaigners’ list figuring chief minister Naveen Patnaik , party vice presidents Anang Uday Singh Deo and Prasanna Acharya and Rajya Sabha MP Soumya Ranjan Patnaik among others.The list included many leaders who are either denied or yet to get party tickets so far like two-times Berhampur MP Sidhanta Mohapatra , five times MP from Bhubaneswar Prasanna Patasami, Korei MLA Akash Das Nayak, former hockey captain Dillip Tirkey, Bhubaneswar mayor Anant Narayan Jena.The women member of the party including five times MLA from Binjharpur constituency Pramilla Mallik, president of BJD’s women wing Minati Behera, Lopamudra Buxipatra, Kasturi Mohapatra, Srimayee Sweta Snigdha Mishra,Actor-turned politicians like MP Anubhav Mohanty, Kuna Tripathy, Arindam Ray are the star campaigner for the party during the coming Lok Sabha and assembly elections in the state.Others in the list included leaders like Surya Narayan Patro, N Bhaskar Rao, Padmanava Behera, Niranjan Pujari, Bikram Keshari Arukh, Prasant Nanda, Pratap Keshari Deb, Pratap Jena, Sanjay Das Burma, Pranab Prakash Das, Chandra Sarathi Behera, Ramesh Majhi and newly-joined Naba Kishore Das.Besides, young leaders like Tejeswar Parida, Asim Amitabh Das, Amaresh Patri and Rana Pratap Patra are also included in the list.Sources said each political party can name as many as 40 candidates as star campaigners and their travel expenses will be will be included in the party expenditure and not under the candidate’s for whom they will campaign.Even the expenses during any public rally or meeting by the star campaigners if more than one candidate shared the dais and display banners and posters with their names in the rally will be equally divided by the candidates, said a senior officer in the CEO.
