Sudarsan Patnaiks Konark sand art wins applause

Sudarsan worked for nearly 8 to 10 hours to complete the 6-ft-high and 20-ft-long sand art. Chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday was all praises of Sudarsan’s art.Though the 41-year-old Sudarsan has been creating sand arts in regular intervals in the country and abroad, the Konark art, sculpted on Wednesday mesmerized the visitors at the international sand art museum at Tottori in Japan. The art’s photos became a big hit on social media with people from across the world greeting Sudarsan for the art, which created an illusion of being the real Konark wheel.“Appreciate @sudarsansand for beautiful representation of famous Konark wheel through his sand art in Japan. Since the art will be displayed in the museum for a year, Odisha tourism will get a boost through Konark,” Sudarsan said.Sudarsan said he started working on the art on March 20 and completed it on March 27. A number of dignitaries, including New York-based famous fashion designer Bibhu Mohapatra took to the social media and congratulated Sudarsan, a Padma Shri awardee.Sudarsan, who returned from Japan on Friday, said the Konark art is his best work so far. “I was overwhelmed to see visitors’ appreciation in Japan. It was my longstanding wish to project Konark in global market. Since the art will be displayed in the museum for a year, Odisha tourism will get a boost through Konark,” Sudarsan said.Sudarsan said he started working on the art on March 20 and completed it on March 27. Sudarsan worked for nearly 8 to 10 hours to complete the 6-ft-high and 20-ft-long sand art. At least 20 other sculptors from different overseas nations participated in the exhibition.
