Bhubaneswar: A workshop on Agri Start- ups Role of Innovations and Technology in Cooperative Development of India was organised by Madhusudan Institute of Cooperative Management. The workshop was inaugurated by Honble Minister Food Supply and Consumer Welfare, Govt. of Odisha Ranendra Pratap Swain. Addressing to the august gathering Sri Swain, emphasised on the role of democratic organisation like Cooperatives in Agri start -ups. He highlighted the adoption of 5Ts as advocated by Honble Chief Minister of Odisha in improving the conditions of the farmers of state by transforming agriculture through modern technology, making Odisha self-sufficient in food production. He also opined that the technology is often used by the State and Cooperation department for the benefits of the farmers and entrepreneur and it should also use more prominently in future to serve the cause of farmers community of State at large. Among others A. Chandrasekhar, Chief General Manager, NABARD, Bhubaneswar, Mohan Kumar Mishra, Secretary, National Council for Cooperative Training, New Delhi & S. Ghosh, Director of the institute spokes on this occasion. The Workshop recommended for the infrastructural development for Agri start- ups to facilitate Agri entrepreneur, FPOs and Cooperatives to face the challenges of Production, Processing, Marketing, Retaining skilled manpower and making farmers aware of Agri start -up activities, technological adoption and innovations used in modern day agricultural practices. A market led model, big data analytics for various agricultural activities, policy supports from Central and State Government through single window system need to be promoted for Agri start-ups. The Cooperatives which exclusively works for marginal and weaker sector of the society at grass root level can imbibe the ideas of Agri strat –ups to serve the cause of farmers in doubling their income as well as to create employment opportunities in Odisha.
