Infosys bags coveted State Energy Conservation Award for 5th time in a row

Bhubaneswar: Infosys Development Centre Bhubaneswar received the coveted Odisha State Energy Conservation Award (OSECA) for the 5th time in a row, for taking effective initiatives to conserve energy. As an organizations Infosys has made outstanding contributions in the area of energy efficiency. The LEED Platinum building is recognized by Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) and this certification is awarded to highly energy efficient buildings. It has implemented various sustainability initiatives, parts of which are aimed at achieving carbon and water neutrality across the campuses. The company has installed on-site renewable energy systems which generates 431787 KWH capacity to offset a part of the building energy consumption.

Bhubaneswar: Infosys Development Centre Bhubaneswar received the coveted Odisha State Energy Conservation Award (OSECA) for the 5th time in a row, for taking effective initiatives to conserve energy. The award was given at a function organized on the occasion of Energy Conservation Day on December 14, by the Department of Energy, Government of Odisha, at Jayadev Bhawan, Bhubaneswar. As an organizations Infosys has made outstanding contributions in the area of energy efficiency. This year in the month of October Bhubaneswar Software Technology Park of India (STPI) campus was declared Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) under the Green Building Rating System. The LEED Platinum building is recognized by Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) and this certification is awarded to highly energy efficient buildings. Infosys constructed these buildings with a holistic approach to sustainability, concentrating on areas such as water efficiency, rainwater harvesting, energy efficiency, better indoor air quality, and efficient HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning) designs. At Infosys the organization has always been conscious of its environmental footprint and is committed to drive efforts that help it save and conserve natural resources. It has implemented various sustainability initiatives, parts of which are aimed at achieving carbon and water neutrality across the campuses. The company is working to reduce its per capita electricity consumption by 50 percent from 2008 levels and to source maximum of its electricity needs from renewable energy sources. For all existing buildings, efficiency improvements were achieved through large-scale retrofit project. Major interventions included complete re-engineering of chiller plants, air handling units, Building Management System (BMS) retrofit, UPS retrofit and lighting retrofit, etc. These initiatives have helped Infosys lower operating costs, enhance equipment life, create healthier indoor air quality, and improve occupant comfort and satisfaction. The installation of efficient chillers, replacing old pumps with efficient right sized pumps, lighting retrofit with LED fixtures, Variable Frequency Drive and BMS in the buildings helped in saving energy. The company has installed on-site renewable energy systems which generates 431787 KWH capacity to offset a part of the building energy consumption. It would be pertinent to mention here that over the years, Infosys had demonstrated leadership in implementing innovative technologies and practices to foster sustainability, leading to high operational efficiency while minimizing environmental impacts.
