It is like a rabble rouser suddenly turns a passive breather. Pradeep Maharathy cannot be grudged for having left a different kind of political legacy in a blend of politics in Odisha that would look wanting of an energy and flamboyance  Maharathy was known for.

His political journey spanning over four decades had been seen dribbling through interesting variations. A self-acclaimed hero of his own definition, Maharathy was conferred with apllause and often time stripped him of his ranks and positions but he never allowed his place among his people to shrink against the savage reprisals of his opponents.

Starting his innings in politics under the legendary leader Biju Patnaik,  Maharathy was a stand apart man, deriving incidental pleasures from hardest of situations.

The burly politician, with those bulging eyes , his face spattered with stumps of beards, had however never showed the instincts to dodge the innendoes hurled at him either inside the Assembly or outside.

A staunch follower of Biju babu,  Pradeep Maharathy was a straight talker and had always pounced upon his opponents with a burning splash of anger in his eyes and the day next, he could be seen leaning on his shoulder with a pat of affection.

He was daring in worst of circumstances but was also adept at hiding his worries behind that rough exterior. On that day, on October 4 he came our that worldly trance to lose to Covid.
