Aparajita Sarangi's Fresh Pursuit To Wear New Cap Is An Overdrive Only!

By D N Singh. Even after getting appointed as a national spokesperson for the Bharatiya Janata Party, Bhubaneswar MP, Aparajita Sarangi, is obviously in a willing suspension of fear over her position as, whether, she is one of the thinking hats in the party or not. Her fear may have some logic.

The other day, a message posted in her WhatsApp group (Press Forum) read that, after being appointed as a national spokesperson, `madam Aparajita Sarangi for the first time going to arrive in Bhubaneswar` hence she deserves a rousing welcome!  That was the essence.

Political Overdrive

It was bit amusing to read the intent. First one would think, as if, she scaled a new height in national politics or got a berth in the union cabinet or something alike to breath a fresh dose of euphoria among the party cadre! Perhaps, there is nothing like that!

Before that she was seen in a few television debates in Delhi. Notwithstanding the yardstick adopted by the BJP in such appointments, but  her performance in those debates looked so wanting both in essence and homework.

Without any personalisation of the issue, ìt can be said that, Sarangi has kickstarted her race into politics with a soul of a bereaucrat within, which she has not been able to wriggle out of, till date. Where speaking through the hat, more often than not, appears very usual and, some believe that masking arrogance by arrogance is an essential weapon to become upsparing towards sense of self-doubt. But politics is a different ball game.

Where ones biographies rarely matter but only you matter by the calculus that to what extent you remain relevant in the collective perception of people on the ground and not merely cheerleaders within the party. There she faces the challenge.

Who Would Steer Odisha BJP

A throwback to about ten years can reveal, roughly in post 2009, that the BJP in Odisha virtually nosedived , and the state leaders were through for a very trying phase in politics.

However, after 2014 the ascending graph  rose up when Dharmendra Pradhan figured in the national sphere and then onwards never looked back. His tireless efforts through a hard posturing against the invincible Naveen led BJD did yield the dividend in 2019 when, the BJP on its own stood up to become the number two party in the state.

It is a different matter that, BJP is Odisha is not free from internal bickering and that`s quite natural when taller ones are dwarfed suddenly regardless of their immense hardwork for years and years.

Today Pradhan is undisputedly the blue-eyed boy of NDA and he cruised through the rising tides to become party`s poster boy in Odisha. Significantly, the fresh bonhomie between Naveen Patnaik and Pradhan does speak volumes about an unpredictable political chemistry in the state.

In this rain of goodwill and pleasantries between Patnaik and Pradhan, the likes of Aparajita Sarangi must read the writings on the walls, spend some time of perseverance and delivery rather than wallowing wax in self-sponsored events or roadside hoarding.

There are examples in Odisha itself that Sarangi can take that, in BJP one upmanship never pays.
