Khandagiri Flyover In Bhubaneswar To Be Functional By June

The construction work for the 2-km flyover had started with an estimated cost of Rs 115 crore in June 2019.

In what will provide safety to commuters at the accident-prone Khandagri Square in the Capital City, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has expedited the on-going construction work of the flyover on National Highway No 5 in order to make it functional by June this year.

“The flyover will be completed in time and become functional by June this year,” said Ram Prasad Panda, Chief General Manager (CGM), NHAI, Odisha

“Proposals will also be sent to the NHAI for the construction of two more foot over-bridges between Rasulgarh, Palasuni and Jaydev Vihar-Nayapalli Puja Mandap,” added Panda.

Sources in the NHAI said that the flyover will have separate service roads for local vehicles and slip roads for the vehicles coming on the highway. It will help decongest the traffic. The flyover is being constructed for smooth entry and exit of vehicles from the bus terminus at Bramunda to the national highway (No 5).

Meanwhile, the NHAI has also approved the construction of a foot-over-bridge between Saheed Nagar and Satsang Vihar park in Bhubaneswar. According to a notification issued by the NHAI, the estimated cost of the bridge will be Rs 1.25 crore.
