The stage is all set for the next phase of COVID-19 vaccination for priority groups in Odisha: people above the age of 60 years and those above 45 years with co-morbidities.

The mega COVID-19 vaccination drive for senior citizens and people with comorbidities will start from March 1.

Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) Commissioner Prem Chandra Chaudhary on Saturday said that people in the appropriate categories will be administered the COVID-19 vaccine at 22 places including 12 government and 10 private hospitals in the city.

The COVID-19 vaccine will be provided free of cost at government hospitals in the city.

“The Centre is yet to announce the cost of the vaccine in private hospitals. However, the private hospitals will charge Rs 100 as service charge from people here,” said Chaudhary.

The BMC has decided to rope in at least 60 persons at each vaccination site for the smooth rollout of the drive on March 1, he said.

Giving details, the BMC Commissioner said that the vaccination will be carried out in private hospitals following registration by the people on CoWIN app 2.0.

The physical vaccination at private hospitals in Bhubaneswar will be undertaken from Tuesday as March 1 has been fixed for completing necessary registration formalities.

“People can choose from a list of private hospitals and complete registration formalities by uploading supporting documents. Initially, the vaccination drive will be carried out in 10 private hospitals and later the number of sites will increase,” Chaudhary added.
