Odisha Does It Again For Record Time, Hosting National Volleyball Championship In Bhubaneswar

In a record consecutive for the second time Odisha government is going to host the 6th Senior National Volleyball championship 2020-2021 for men and women under the aegis of the Volleyball Federation of India in Bhubaneswar.

Under the able supervision of the chief minister of Odisha, after hosting the international Hockley tournament, he pitches to promote sports in Odisha which is a gallant salute to the sports talent pool in the state.

The gala event will be for the first time in the history of Volleyball, Odisha as a state would be hosting the senior national championship after successfully conducting the 6th Senior Volleyball (for men and women) championship in 2020. 

And also for the first time, all the matches will be played in Indoor courts with live streaming.

Odisha as a state can pride of being alloted four volleyball National Volleyball  Championships (NVC) like 39th sub-junior NVC 2009,  41st NVC 2019, 68th NVC in 2019 and now the forthcoming 69th NVC (men and women ) 2020-2021.

It may be mentioned here that all four tournaments have been conducted at the Bhubaneswar-based KIIT premises.

The championship will feature more than 1200 men & women volleyball players from 28 states and union territories(UT ) for the first time, the Ladakh team is to participate.

The redeeming feature of the tournament is that many Arjuna Awardees will participate here. and this will help the selection of for the upcoming Asian Championships and International meets also.

A galaxy of personalities like G E Sridharan,  Dalel Singh, Jager Singh Randhawa and many others are going to be the coordinators.

The championship would be conducted strictly with the COVID guidelines of the government of Odisha and the inaugural ceremonies will be held at Biju Patnaik Stadium, Kiit Campuses on March 5 commemorating the birth anniversary of the legendary late Biju babu.

Obviously humbled by the faith reposed on the KIIT, its founder Achyut Samant has expressed his gratitude towards the VFI and the state of Odisha.

The tournament may go a long way to pluck the hidden talents in Odisha and in other states to be nurtured for international events.
