The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation(BMC) is on a spree to punish the Covid-19 SOP violators in the capital city, Given the surge in Covid-19 cases, the BMC sealed various institutions violating the Covid-19 SOPs.

Silicon Institute Of Technology, a private college in the Patia area of the city was sealed by the BMC officials on Tuesday morning, this comes after BMC had served a show-cause notice to the institution for violation of Covid-19 regulations.

Earlier on Monday morning(5 April), a private coaching institute called Happy Classes at Jayadev Vihar was also sealed for violating Covid-19 norms.

The Office of Odisha Civil Supplies Corporation has also been sealed after detected of six covid-19 cases.

The BMC officials are conducting random raids in the city under the instructions of BMC Commissioner Prem Chandra Chaudhary. Numerous educational institutes and commercial establishments have been penalised for violating the Covid-19 norms in the last couple of days in the city.

Odisha reported 588 fresh cases of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours.
