Odisha government has decided to impose a weekend curfew in 10 districts in view of the fast-growing Coronavirus cases in the state while a night curfew has been announced in the entire state from Friday

Odisha government has decided to impose a weekend curfew in 10 districts in view of the fast-growing Coronavirus cases in the state while a night curfew has been announced in the entire state from Friday.

The curfew will start with effect from Friday 6 pm to 5 am on Monday in 10 districts bordering Chattisgarh and Jharkhand, while a night curfew has been announced in the entire state from Friday.

Restrictions will be much stricter in 10 districts out of these 30, a 11-hour night curfew will be imposed in these 10 districts, while the curfew will stay for 8 hours in the remaining 20 districts. Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Balangir, Koraput, Navrangpur and Malkangiri are the 10 districts.

The government has said that the process will continue till further orders.

Following services will be exempted from the weekend curfew:

All essential services are exempted from the ban during the night curfew. Those taking such services will have to show the identity card to the police at the time of the investigation. There will be no restriction on vehicles used for the transportation of goods. At the same time, all institutions of the Higher Education Department will be closed from April 19. Coaching centres also will not run offline. The government will later issue new guidelines for technical education and medical education. Religious, social and political events have been banned. Only priests will do religious ceremonies.
