The decision was taken in a video conferencing meeting chaired by Kishan Kumar, Chief Administrator of Jagannath Temple. Senior service, District Collector Samarth Verma, SP Kunwar Vishal Singh and officials of the temple office were present in this meeting. The meeting highlighted various problems faced by the Puri Jagannath temple due to the Covid-19 epidemic.

Covid-19 cases are rapidly increasing in Odisha, if the devotees continue to visit the Jagannath temple, then the risk of spreading the virus may increase. Continuing the ritual of Jagannath amidst the Kovid transition, everyone spoke of keeping the temple closed for the devotees. Health security of servants employed in Mahaprabhu`s daily policy service was also discussed in the meeting.

At the same time, the temple administration talked about continuing the chariot construction work from May 15 this year, chariot construction will begin as per tradition. Masks and sanitisers will be arranged for the servants. Significantly, cases of coronavirus are increasing in the state. Puri recorded 395 fresh covid-19 cases on Friday. The servants say that if the devotees will be banned in the temple, then only the yatra in the coming days can be completed in a planned manner.
