Bhubaneswar: Odisha govt delays Covid-19 vaccine for 18+ due to shortage

Vaccination is suspended in 12 districts of the state as the stocks have dried up. It is expected that the vaccine will arrive by 15 May.

The new phase of vaccination for everyone aged over 18 years is starting in the country from May 1, but how several states have already opted out of it. Delhi government has stated the problem of shortage of vaccine, along with the Punjab, Odisha, Jammu and Kashmir government has also expressed its inability to start a new phase from May 1.

The Government of Odisha has also cancelled the new phase of vaccination from May 1. Bijaya Panigarhi, who is responsible for vaccination in Odisha, says that the vaccine will be delayed in the state, so it is difficult to start vaccination from May 1. At the same time, vaccination is suspended in 12 districts of the state as the stocks have dried up. It is expected that the vaccine will arrive by 15 May.

The districts are as follows: Balasore, Bhadrak, Boudh, Cuttack, Jajpur, Jharsuguda, Kendrapara, Keonjhar, Khordha, Koraput, Mayurbhanj and Puri districts.
