22 Lakh residents in Odisha immediately need their second vaccine jab: Health Min Naba Das to Centre

The Odisha government on Wednesday informed the Center that about 22 lakh people in the state are waiting for the second dose of Covid-19 vaccine; the state immediately needs at least 25 lakh doses of the vaccines.

State Health Minister NK Das gave this information in a digital meeting with Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan. Das said that the state is facing a huge shortage of vaccines and people are eagerly waiting for their vital second dose.

Odisha reported 10982 fresh cases of Covid-19 were while 17 people succumbed to the deadly virus. The active cases tally stood at 98,230 in the coastal state.

Cuttack district received 885 fresh cases of Covid-19 on Wednesday.
Khurda District, which includes capital Bhubaneswar, received the highest 1539 new cases.

Odisha government has now decided to give Coivd-19 vaccine jabs to those who are at high risk of infection but don`t have an identity card.

Earlier, Odisha became the fifth state to launch a global tender for Covid-19 vaccines owing to a shortage after Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Rajasthan and Maharashtra.
