Renowned Odia poet, lexicographer and translator Shubendu Mund passes away

He was rushed to a private hospital in Bhubaneswar after he complained of chest pain on Friday afternoon, but he died on his way to the hospital.

Eminent Odia poet, lexicographer and translator Subhendu Mund aged 70, succumbed to cardiac arrest in Bhubaneswar on Friday. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and other leaders have mourned his death.

He was rushed to a private hospital in Bhubaneswar after he complained of chest pain on Friday afternoon, but he died on his way to the hospital. Doctors said that he suffered several heart attacks while he was brought to the hospital, which led to his death.

Subhendu Mund started his career as an English professor in 1973. He continued to serve in many literary and educational institutions. Many of his generals have also been published. In 2009, he retired as the Principal of Autonomous BJB College, Bhubaneswar. Subhendu leaves behind his wife Pranati, two sons and a daughter. Subhendu was a native of the Kalahandi district.
